Congrats to Mr. Doucet!
Livingstone Range School Division is pleased to announce that Roger Doucet, who has been Acting Principal of J.T. Foster High School this school year, has accepted the official position of Principal of J.T. Foster beginning in the 2020-2021 school year.
Roger has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History from the University of Victoria, a Bachelor of Education degree from the University of Alberta, and a Masters in Education from the University of Lethbridge. He joined LRSD in 2008 and in addition to teaching has brought a focus on financial literacy and entrepreneurialism to J.T. Foster, and has been Assistant Principal and Acting Principal there.
In February 2020, stakeholders were invited to provide input on the professional and personal qualities a new Principal at J.T. Foster High School should possess. Staff and parents responded that a Principal with strong leadership skills, stability, student-focus, and a good collaborator would best meet the needs of the school.
“Roger has been a true leader in his administration roles,” says Superintendent Darryl Seguin. “It’s obvious that he truly cares about the students, and we believe he will provide continuity and a collaborative experience for the J.T. Foster community.”
Roger believes in open dialogue with the community and with staff and students at the school. “Building a culture of ‘we are listening’ helps create a safe and compassionate school,” Roger says.
With his commitment to collaboration and open dialogue, we are confident that the staff and students of J.T. Foster High School will thrive under his leadership. Congratulations to Roger.
